Ok, so this page is about me…Abigail Spring (Losee) Batchelder. I was born on April 21, 1980 in Concord, NH. I’ve lived in several NH towns, but grew up mostly in Berlin, where I graduated from high school in 1998. I then attended Plymouth State College where I graduated with a BS degree in Outdoor Recreation. I spent every summer from 1997 to 2004 working at Barry Conservation Camp, one of the two NH 4-H Camps. I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent there teaching and helping children in a variety of positions. I spent two springs and a fall working for Nature’s Classroom, Inc., which I enjoyed as well.
I have also worked with a 5-year old boy with Sotos Syndrome. Basically, he’s 5, but mentally he’s 3, and physically he’s 8. It was a challenging but very rewarding job. Then I worked in Campton, NH for a residential home for adolescent boys who are in placement. They have been placed there by the court system for a variety of reasons including behavior, drugs and alcohol, and breaking the law. It was a challenging but also very fun and rewarding job. After that, I worked at Plymouth Elementary School as a one on one aide with a boy in first grade, which I loved.
While a freshman at PSC, I met Matthew Batchelder, who, as you may have guessed, became my husband on June 5, 2004. He and I currently reside in Plymouth, NH. Matt works right in Plymouth, just a few minutes from home, which is nice. We enjoy hiking in the area, and have decided to hike as many of the 4,000-footers as we can (we’ll see). We also enjoy board games, eating out, and spending time with our daughter. Matt enjoys role-playing games, computer games and programming. I enjoy crafts (cross-stitching and knitting mostly), playing the piano, and photography.
In the past, I have taken framed photos and homemade scarves to craft shows and was fairly successful. I’ve also entered some photo contests. I was one of two winners for a community guide and therefore had four photos in the magazine; two on the cover and two inside.
I gave birth to our daughter, Samantha Joy Batchelder, on May 28, 2007. She is a wonderful baby in every way; she has always slept well, is not overly fussy, and is very entertaining to sit and watch. It’s amazing to see her grow and develop into this little person with her own personality. She definitely keeps us on our toes!
